SUMMARY:
Under the overall direction of the Team Leader - Landscaping, the Team Lead will assist in day to day direction in the areas of landscaping and irrigation systems, while also functioning as a working lead of the landscaping team to assure a safe environment and maintain compliance with applicable codes. Position includes, but is not limited to, planting, transplanting, irrigating, detecting plant, annual, tree or shrub diseases or insect infection, spraying herbicide and pesticides, cutting and laying sod, and helping to keep the campus free of debris. Position will assist in over seeing the landscaping specialist personnel. Must have supervisory experience. Must have the knowledge to operate and properly maintain the tools, landscaping equipment, chemicals and machinery used in the landscaping trades. Must be knowledgeable in the area of landscaping methods and techniques. Must possess the ability to perform a variety of skilled landscaping and repair tasks. Must be able to perform minor mechanics on landscaping equipment. Must have the ability to operate a variety of all landscaping equipment including riding lawnmowers, walk behind mower, edgers, hedge trimmers, handtools, sprayers and sprinkler systems. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and give work direction and delegation to other team member.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Must possess a two year college degree with an emphasis on Turf Grass Management and/or Horticulture a minimum 1 - 3 years landscaping experience with at least one year supervisory experience. Must have a Valid Florida State Driver's license and Commercial Pesticide Applicator's license
